The Republic of Bastok
Home of the Humes and Galka
Founded not more than a four hundred years ago, the nation of Bastok was built upon the sweat and fires of forges. Through the advancement of technology and rich resources in the surrounding mines Bastok has made its economy and success from their metalworks. Many say it is was the Galka who truly built Bastok with their muscle and courage carving out the mines.
During the war Bastok joined in the fight against the Beastmen and the united alliance forged by Jeuno. Around the region are Quadav, the Beastmen native to the Gustaberg and Derfland Regions. Their stronghold in Beadeaux though a distance from Bastok has not stop their advance to Bastok. Even in these times after the war the Quadav maintain a strong presence in Gustaberg with their weaker foot solders such as the Young, Amber and Amethyst Quadav. Not very smart or organized they roaming freely on the dusty plains of Gustaberg sparsely scattered waiting for a traveler or young adventurer to pass by.
Bastok is home to the Goldsmithing and Blacksmith Guilds which their foundation is built upon. The working on precious metals and gems into fine jewelry or the smelting and forging of iron and steel into swords and armor. Just a few of the goods to be found. Located in the Bastok Markets is the Goldsmithing Guild where the bazaars are always offering deals to adventurers and citizens hoping to sell their exotic goods found on their own travels. The fountain is a popular meeting place for all as it is an easily recognizible landmark in Bastok. Many bazaars will be seen around here and follow the trail of bazaars up the steps to find the Auction House selling goods to the highest bidder. The smoke rising from the fernace for the Metalworks is where the Blacksmiths Guild is to be found. The place with technology grows and invented, above on the second floor can be found Cid's Lab where his lastest ideas come to life. Further back is the President's Office and Embassies arrayed across the yard for all to visit.
